“Welcome back, Betty! You’ve been with us for quite some time! Can you speak? Maybe even whisper? Do you know where you are?” Dr. Holloway quizzed his coma patient of the past nine months while checking her pupil dilation with his penlight. He stood back, waiting for Betty to speak. Betty looked at the doctor, the nurses and around the room, moving her head slightly. Then she focused in on Doc Holloway, wet her lips, preparing to speak. The good Doc leaned in slightly as she parted her lips.
